Many of our Alaska Adventure Camps offer Fall Adventure Programs, Activities, Workshops & Classes starting in September, 2024.

CAMP FACILITIES: Children sleep in a cabin with other kids, with access to a nice central bathhouse. Activities take place around camp at locations such as the Archery Range, the Rec Hall, a grass field for games, and of course, the awesome King's Lake for swimming and boating. Meals are served in our dining hall overlooking the lake.
CAMP PROGRAM INFO: The Salvation Army has been running summer camps all over the world for a long time, including over 50 years in Alaska. Our staff are specially trained each year to provide kids with a safe and exciting camp experience.

We are accredited by the American Camp Association, which establishes best practices for camp. We follow these health, safety and program standards to ensure that campers have a positive and safe experience at Birchwood camp.

BRIEF CAMP DESCRIPTION: Adventure Treks’ summer camps for teens are all about making memories, fostering lifelong friendships, and creating more confident and capable young men and women. We want each of our students to discover their best selves, and we believe that the great outdoors is just the way to do it. Our commitment to creating a close-knit community is what sets us apart. Plus, our trips are technology-free, so students learn to “survive” (and even thrive!) without electronics.

CAMP FACILITIES: All trips begin at a designated airport. Students explore the most scenic and beautiful places in a particular region, and travel between activity sites in brand-new, 15-passenger vans. We spend each night in a tent, and students learn how to cook in the backcountry—with plenty of guidance from our instructors! They go backpacking, camping, whitewater rafting, rock climbing, whitewater kayaking, ziplining, ice climbing, canoeing, sea kayaking, inflatable kayaking, mountaineering, and mountain biking.
CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Physical and emotional safety is our top priority.
Fun and exciting outdoor activities help teens grow and gain life skills and a greater sense of self. Our exceptional instructor role models take a sincere interest in the growth and development of young people. We inspire young people to develop a lifetime love of the outdoors and with a corresponding conservation ethic. We empower students to create an inclusive and reflective community that maintains a culture of kindness, sense of humor, and spirit of cooperation and volunteerism. We strive to be a sustainable and responsive business, with a focus on our families and the quality of our programs. We form long-term relationships with our students, their families, instructors, staff, and outfitters.
CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: Leadership Summit (for 11th and 12th graders) is the perfect opportunity to strengthen leadership skills for roles in the outdoor industry starting in college.

CAMPER AGES: Ages 5 - 11 and preschool ages 5 and under
TYPE OF CAMP: Day Camp.

BRIEF CAMP DESCRIPTION: Come join the fun at the farm! Ride horses, feed the pig, sheep, goats, chickens, rabbits and ponies. Bottle feed the calves and hold baby chicks. Learn to drive the calves as oxen. Learn to make cheese and how to grow organic plants. Learn ways to live green. Gather chicken eggs and learn to rope. Art and craft activities include wool projects from our very own sheep's wool. Learn about horse safety, various horse breeds, horse care and grooming. Various animal rescue organizations will be featured weekly. Sing songs around a camp fire and ride the wagon pulled by our draft horse, Mac. Unique hands on animal education right here in Anchorage. Only ten campers per day, so reserve your spot now.

CAMP LOCATION: The Learning Farm is located on the south side of Anchorage, Alaska on two and a half acres.

CAMP FACILITIES: We have a class room in the loft of the red barn for the ten campers and staff as well as a separate class room building for the preschool age children. We have an arena and stalls, and various pens for the various animals.
CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Our summer camp program runs all summer, twelve weeks of the summer. We limit campers to ten per day. We have at least three adults present as well as a minimum of five Jr. Staff trained to assist with activities.
CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS OR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: We are in the process of establishing the farm program as a nonprofit organization. Future scholarship programs are being developed now.
YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMS: Besides summer farm camp, The Learning Farm offers holiday farm camps as well as some home school classes, and after school programs.
CAMP SESSION DATES & FEES:
Rates are $100 per day per camper or $60 for half day.
A discount for booking two or more days.
Full days discounted to $90 per day and half day discounted to $50 for half day.
SUMMER CAMP JOBS:
The Learning Farm is looking for an energetic, highly motivated summer farm camp and holiday farm camp teacher. Summer and holiday camps normally run Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm for Ages 5 - 11 years old. Pay rate dependent on qualifications and experience.
