CAMP PROGRAM INFO: We are looking for enthusiastic, outgoing, hard working people of all ages, to become Pilgrim Heights Camp & Retreat Center Volunteers. There are many ways you can give back, be good stewards, and get involved at Pilgrim Heights. Here are just a few ways you can help out and have fun: Summer Camp Volunteer Counselor – age 16 & older (summer only) Work Service Volunteer – all ages (year-round) Pilgrim Heights Program Volunteer – age 16 & older (program specific)

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: Whether you are a returning counselor or first-timer, 10th - 12th grade high school students and adults interested in counseling for at least one session this summer... Come to CIT camp this year! We'll spend 24 hours together preparing for campers. Then, campers will join us for 3 days of on-the-job training.

FAMILY CAMP SESSION(S): Families come in all kinds of forms and each person is unique. So, we've given you options to fit your family: Sleep in the air-conditioned comfort of Autumn House or in a tent under the stars. Come for a day ($75) or two or the whole week. CAMP FACILITIES: We have 11 seasonal cabins with A/C and bunk beds, 3 cabins that are available year around. Our new Lakeview Lodge provides deluxe hotel style guest rooms for our adults for reunions, retreats, or personal getaways. We also provide excellent food service.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Camp activities take place in our Rec Hall/Chapel, Canteen/Art & Crafts buildings. We have High and Low Challenge Courses, Archery, Gaga ball, 9 Sq in the Air, Canoeing, Kayaking, Bike trails, and many more activities. The favorite of course is swimming, canoeing, or kayaking in beautiful West Lake Okoboji. Which is considered one of three blue water lakes in the world. SPECIAL NEEDS CAMPERS: Camp Courageous is a year-round recreational and respite care program for children and adults with disabilities. Campers with intellectual & physical disabilities, hearing and visual impairments, autism, brain injuries and other distinct groups are served.

CAMP INSTRUCTIONAL ACTIVITIES OFFERED:
Adventure, Waterfront/Aquatics, Wilderness/Nature, Travel, Fine Arts/Crafts, Swimming, Team Sports, and more. Special Needs.

CAMP LOCATION: Camp Courageous is in the beautiful Pictured Rocks area of Jones County, 5 miles southeast of Monticello, IA. The camp lies on 200 acres of wooded land surrounded by thousands of acres of state primitive land and the Maquoketa River.

CAMP FACILITIES: Camp Courageous has a lodge, nature center, barn, 3 large cabins, gym, office, nursing area, 3 staff dorms, arts and crafts building, 2 indoor pools and 8 staff houses.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Camp Courageous is a year-round recreational and respite care program for children and adults with disabilities. Campers with intellectual & physical disabilities, hearing and visual impairments, autism, brain injuries and other distinct groups are served.

Campers choose from traditional camp activities as well as many adventure activities such as high and low ropes courses and caving.

CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS OR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: Campership funds are available for those that need assistance.

YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMS: Winter week long program for adultes. Spring school camping program. Summer week long program for children, youth and adults. Fall weeklong program for adults. 23 Respite care weekends each year. 23 trips both weekend and weeklong each year.

CAMP SESSION DATES & FEES:
February 9-March 20, 2015. $410/week
March 30- May 15, 2015. $4.10/hour
May 24 through August 14. 2015 $485/week.
August 24- November 20, 2015. $410/week

SUMMER CAMP JOBS:
Camp Courageous is a year-round recreational and respite care facility for individuals with disabilities. Campers with intellectual and physical disabilities, brain injuries, hearing or visual impairments, autism and other special needs are served.

Working with children and adults with special needs is often a very real challenge. Campers may need help with personal care including feeding, dressing, and bathroom needs. Some campers exhibit behavioral challenges. Patience, energy, good judgment and enthusiasm are important qualifications for a position at Camp Courageous. The hours are long. An unselfish attitude and an emphasis on teamwork are needed. Staff are expected to put the campers’ needs before their own. If you possess the necessary attributes, I invite you to apply for a position at Camp Courageous.

Volunteer positions, internships, and paid positions are available. Volunteers and Interns can receive an optional stipend of $50.00/week plus room and board.

Paid counselors and activity specialists receive the best employment package around. Seasonal staff earn $475/week while year-round staff earn $625-675/week. Room and board are provided which include air-conditioned staff dormitories affording the staff separate living quarters from the campers. Staff share cabin duty on a rotating basis. Other benefits include a health insurance plan and one week of paid vacation for year-round staff. Camp provides a bonus for returning seasonal summer staff and a monetary incentive for recruiting additional summer staff. Candidates for year- round positions must have experience with individuals with disabilities. Seasonal positions are for one or more season.

YR-ROUND: Starts the first day of the season requiring a one year commitment. WINTER: January 28 – February 22, 2019 SPRING: February 25 to May 17, 2019 SUMMER: May 19 to August 16, 2019 FALL: August 21 to November 29, 2019

BRIEF CAMP DESCRIPTION: Camp Wego offers high-quality tours for teen and adults with special needs year around. Our travel programs are unforgettable adventures. We are not your ordinary travel Camp! On our exciting, supervised educational travel programs, individuals learn new skills, make lifelong friends and explore extraordinary cultures in United States and abroad.

SPECIAL NEEDS CAMPERS: Camp Wego is a Travel camp serving teens and adult with special needs ages 14-65. We are a small travel special needs camp that travel in the United States and abroad. We are able to provide low staffing ratios, 1 to 4. (1:1 if needed) We have highly credentialed and experienced staff so each individuals needs are met. We add new and innovative travel and activities each year.

Our travel is designed to enhance social, friendship, culture, and other vital life skills that promote independence. Camp Wego helps travelers make new friends while traveling in a safe, fun and educational environment.

We offer high-quality supervised tours for teens and adults with special needs year around. Our travel programs are specialized for individuals with Developmental Disabilities, Autism, Learning Disabilities, ADHD and Asperger's syndrome.

Individuals must be ambulatory and be able to take care of personal hygiene needs.

CAMP LOCATION: We are located five miles south of downtown Boone, IA adjacent to Ledges State Park. We have over 140 acres of beautiful wooded land. This is the perfect place to experience natures beauty.

CAMP FACILITIES: We have over 25 cabins. The crown jewel of the cabin is the beautiful Clayton Lodge. Camp Hantesa also features a ropes course and climbing wall, an equestrian program featuring 14 horses, 2 riding arenas, and abundant pasture land. We also have a swimming pool with a zero entry section for those not as comfortable in the water.

We are proud of our multiple hiking trails, our archery and riflery ranges, our arts center, our drama building, our star observation deck, and our two science and nature centers. We also have the capabilities of hosting groups for conferences, team building retreats, overnight stays, and weddings.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: We are an American Camp Association accredited camp.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: We have a 2 week leadership council program for 9th and 10th graders. We also offer a 4 week apprentice program for 11th and 12th graders.
