Day Camp provides a fun filled summer with a wide variety of supervised activities. The program focuses on teaching campers new skills and social development. Backyard Bunch is a unique place where kids of many ages make new friends, explore new and old interests, develop character and build a sense of belonging.

Each session is one week providing an array of indoor and outdoor activities and experiences based on a weekly theme. Our 5 acre facility provides your child a nature based camp experience in the middle of the city.

For over 25 years we have been a proud member of the American Camp Association closely following hundreds of standards for health and safety, and self submitting to accreditation visits.

All of our staff must attend intensive pre-camp training sessions that include: policies and procedures, health and safety, camp activities, appropriate staff and camper interactions, and a variety of other essential skills. Sections of the trainings also provide instruction on how to deal with situations that may occur at camp.

Beyond summer camp, most of our staff work with kids year round within the Long Beach Unified School District After School Programs. They work with kids from a variety of socioeconomic and special needs backgrounds. All of our staff are required to be at least 18 years of age.

CAMP FACILITIES: At Natoma, we sleep under the stars on cots. We also have a swimming pool with water slide, archery and hatchet ranges, dining hall, fire ring, miles of trails, drama platform, and a perennial creek.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Camp Natoma has been providing a week of sleeping under the stars, an experience campers will remember for a lifetime, since 1941. It is operated by Friends of Camp Natoma, a non-profit organization, and is an American Camping Association (ACA) Accredited Camp. At Natoma, campers gain self-confidence, become positive team players, expand their imagination, and develop a relationship with the natural world around them. All staff are dual background-checked, first-aid and CPR certified, and hand-picked for their positive work experience in youth development.

CAMP FACILITIES: All trips begin at a designated airport. Students explore the most scenic and beautiful places in a particular region, and travel between activity sites in brand-new, 15-passenger vans. We spend each night in a tent, and students learn how to cook in the backcountry—with plenty of guidance from our instructors! They go backpacking, camping, whitewater rafting, rock climbing, whitewater kayaking, ziplining, ice climbing, canoeing, sea kayaking, inflatable kayaking, mountaineering, and mountain biking.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Dig in to summer and explore nature, ecology, art and conservation in this super fun day camp inspired by the exhibition Earth Matters. Eat mud pie, learn about plants and animals at the UCLA Mildred Mathias Botanical Garden, play with clay, go on scavenger hunt adventures, wear mud, create art from nature and experiment with movement and sound. CAMP FACILITIES: MODERN FACILITY: Broadway Gymnastic School is a stateof-the-art gymnastics and children’s fitness facility offering all equipment used in the Olympics as well as trampolines, mini tramp, tumble trak, creative obstacle courses and the zip-line (a favorite among our campers). We also have an activity room, lunch room, arts & crafts room, dance studio and free wi-fi.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Our spectacular gymnastics and sports camp incorporates exercise and education into a fun-filled day program. Gymnastics is paired with a variety of sports, arts, drama, field trips, and an exciting array of activities captivates all ages until the camper goes home at 12:30 or 3pm. Before and after care is available and can be arranged at registration.

ACTIVITIES/TRIPS: Gymnastics is the foundation of our 2015 fitness day camp activities. Ball sports, swimming, arts and crafts, drama, music and dance round out the curriculum. We are also known for our educational field trips: Kid Concepts, Whale Watching, Sky Zone, Aquarium of the Pacific, California Science Center and Adventureplex.

Dance, music, art and science activities are scheduled throughout the summer. Campers get the chance to try new activities, discover new talents and gain confidence in themselves. Other special themed days include Bring- A-Friend Day, Karaoke, bounce houses, zip-lining, plus Water Days filled with water balloon activities and swimming adventures. J.T. has been an integral part of the Camp program for many years, he has a B.F.A. in Acting from the University of Connecticut and has had an accomplished career in the Theatre on Broadway.

COMPETITIVE TRAINING: An innovative summer training program has been designed for our pre-competitive and competitive gymnasts. World-class coaches train boys and girls for all levels of competition. CAMP FACILITIES: Mariposa Day Camp, located in Altadena, offers themed weeks with several different emphases for girls to choose from. Girls participate in new and traditional Girl Scouts activities while making new friends, developing self-esteem and making lasting memories. Introducing new and exciting activities this summer such as a brand new gaga court, low ropes and team building activities plus kids kitchen which gives each girl the opportunity to prepare a fun and different snack each week. CAMP FACILITIES: We have 12 rustic cabins, 1/3 acre natural pond, modern kitchen/dining room, activity building with small group rooms and a game room, Chapel, archery range, shower houses, arts and crafts area, outdoor games, 1/2 court basketball court, 2 campfire areas.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Camp Pendola is an ACA accredited camp. Serving an average of 65 campers each week. sessions range in size from 40 - 96. All of campers spend at least one night sleeping out under the stars. Except for our very youngest campers (Grades 1 and 2), campers hike to remote camp sites, most on Tahoe National Forest Service land, play, prepare dinner and breakfast the following morning, and sleep out under the stars.

Camp staff are college age young adults who are hired for the season. All staff are certified in CPR/AED and First Aid. About 1/2 of the staff have basic certification in Wilderness First Aid. And 90% of the staff are certified lifeguards.

The camp director has been in their current position for 8 1/2 years with over 15 years of experience in administrative camping positions.

Every session, a different band plays a live set for the girls and then sticks around for an intimate Q&A. In our end of program survey this was a major highlight for the girls. Here's a sneak peek at what to expect at a 4 Day Destination Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp™:
• Small group instruction with celebrity musicians
• Campers are placed in a band with a rock star counselor for the entire duration of the camp. We place you in a band based on all of the information your provide upon registration - i.e. skill level, musical preferences etc.
• You'll have the opportunity to learn from and jam with the other Rock Stars Counselors in the evenings during master classes and themed jam rooms.
• Write and record an original song with your band!
• Perform live on stage to a sold out audience at a major Rock Venue
• Special guest and counselor-led master class sessions in drums, bass, guitar, songwriting, etc.
• Daily meals with celebrity musicians and campers
• Rehearsal time at professional rehearsal studios (you'll play where the stars play!)
• Plenty of opportunities for photos and autographs as guest stars walk through the camp all week (so be sure to bring your camera and sharpies!)
• A link to your grand finale performance = you rockin' out live on stage at a concert venue

Exy Johnson and Irving Johnson can sleep a max of 30 campers. We have four heads and three showers aboard. There is also a fully galley with stove and oven.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: The Los Angeles Maritime Institute was founded to better serve at risk youth in 1992 but our founder Jim Gladson had been working to that for many years prior. We work to give kids skills that cannot be gained at home or in a class room include team building, problem solving, decision-making, planning, self-reliance and leadership. And sailing is part of the global human heritage that we want everyone to experience at least once in their lives. We also believe that the best way to get kids impassioned about protecting the ocean, which we all rely on, is to show them first hand how amazing and fun it can be.
All our staff is required to pass background checks and child safety programs before stepping on board with trainees.

OTHER CAMP INFO:

No sailing experience necessary… we will provide that! Learn the ropes of sailing a large vessel as you challenge yourself with exciting new opportunities: leaving the dock, setting and adjusting sails, keeping a ship on course, setting the anchor, and living aboard a ship for a week or two. Make new friends, eat great food, listen to the sound of the sea, and gaze at the stars at night.

CAMP FACILITIES: The camp is lake front and is the perfect location to explore the great outdoors, develop confidence and make memories that will last a lifetime. Activities include: sailing, high and low ropes courses, mountain biking, rock climbing, archery, swimming, outpost camping, fishing, painting, crafts, soccer, basketball, campfires, canoeing, hiking, creek walks, field games, skits, songs, non religious chapels, and personal leadership and development. Campers will share cabins with friends and meet new cabin-mates from other Y's and other communities providing an opportunity for your child to create new and lasting memories with campers from all over California.

CAMP SESSION DATES & FEES:
Youth Camp - campers going into grades4-7th
Teen Camp - campers going into grades 7-10th
Both Youth and Teen Camps are held during July 21-26th.
Early Bird fee of $535 good through April 27th
Standard fee of $565 taken up through July 8th.
Fees are all inclusive, covering transportation from the Ventura Family YMCA to Sequoia Lake and back to Ventura, meals, activities, staffing and facility fees. Scholarships are available through the Open Doors Scholarship Program.
