Wallingford, VT 05773

CAMPER GENDER(S): All Boy Campers.

BRIEF CAMP DESCRIPTION: Night Eagle is a unique primitive summer camp for boys. At Night Eagle, we live in tipis and do things that boys did hundreds of years ago - learn survival skills (fire making with flint & steel or bow drills, plant identification, tracking), create lots of craft items (birchbark baskets, moccasins), go on hikes, canoe, swim, and play lots of games (Buffalo Robe, Stalk the Chief and Slack 'Em to name a few)!

Adventure, Waterfront/Aquatics, Wilderness/Nature, Fine Arts/Crafts, Swimming, and more. Wilderness Skills: Flint & Steel, Bow Drill, Hand Drill, Camouflage, Stalking, Wild Edibles, Survival, Debris Huts, Archery, "hawk" Throwing, Atlatls

CAMP LOCATION: We are located in Vermont on 145 forested acres, which is completely surrounded by 365,000 acres of the Green Mountain National Forest. We are 2 1/2 hours from Hartford, three hours from Boston, and five hours from New York.

CAMP FACILITIES: 10 tipis, 2 lakes for swimming and canoeing, a small garden, a semi-permanent open air structure for gatherings, and a food shelter complete with solar power.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Night Eagle has a decentralized program consisting of over 200 possible activities. On a daily basis after breakfast and again after rest hour, boys select the activities they want to participate in. Our activities tend to spring from the environment and teach boys to rely on their own ingenuity. Through these activities and the slower pace of life in camp, boys naturally develop a deeper respect for the land and an authentic sense of personal accomplishment as they learn to live competently in the woods.

Night Eagle is a different kind of camp based on mutual responsibility and cooperation. Through community living and group decision making, boys learn to live and play together in a spirit of cooperation rather than competition.

Night Eagle typically receives scores in the mid to upper 90s from the state health inspector, and has won the Markel Safety Award four years in a row!

Imagine a community committed to kindness, a place where fun and caring go hand in hand and where girls feel free to express themselves and extend their limits without pressure to conform or fear of ridicule.

Each summer we create a community where Lochearn girls celebrate their childhood, discover the simple joys of playing, laughing and sharing good times with friends in a safe, carefree and wholesome environment. Each girl designs her own activity schedule sampling from a range of activities or focusing on areas that most interest her. While each day has structure, that structure is built around each girl's own schedule which she has determined and is immensely excited to explore! Each girl has five activities on every other day (A-Day) and five different activities on alternate days (B-Day). Girls can redesign their activity schedules every two weeks choosing from beginner, intermediate and advanced level classes.

Each afternoon, girls enjoy a free choice period which they can spontaneously choose from a variety of fun and exciting offerings including water skiing, open waterfront, open gym, tennis tournaments, stable management, theater rehearsals, sailing regattas, and many unique and special offerings in sports and studio arts.

Our Mission

To foster radical self-love through connections to nature, body, and community.

Rebels of the Moon are here to reflect back the bright light that shines from within.

You will be seen. You will be heard. You will be valued.

Rebels of the Moon Etymology

To be a rebel means no longer accepting the oppressive systems and structures that were forced upon us at birth. Being a rebel means finding your voice and speaking up when the world tells you to stay quiet. Being a rebel means knowing you are worthy and whole when the world tells you that you are never enough. Rebels are introspective and willing to challenge the culture and beliefs embedded in us.

To be of the Moon is to step into the divine feminine. Respecting that nature works in cycles, traveling from light to dark with fluidity and grace. Honoring Mother Earth and the lessons she teaches us. Knowing that to be vulnerable is to be powerful. When we honor the moon we find unity within.

CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS OR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: We offer sliding scale for all programs. No one will be turned away due to their financial situation.

We offer limited full scholarships

We offer trade and barter opportunities for all programs
