CAMP FACILITIES: Silver Lake is a picturesque camp, situated on over 300 acres of rolling green hills with a 96-acre private lake. Since opening in 2004, we have been busy improving and upgrading all of our facilities. During that time we have built all new bunks and renovated our basketball, tennis, and volleyball courts. We have also expanded our facilities over the past few summers by adding a new soccer field, "Monster" baseball field, skate park, Pool, and brand new state of the art Gymnastics Facility.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Michael and Shari Baer, owners of Camp Chipinaw, established Silver Lake in 2004 as a session camp that allowed campers to attend for 3, 4, or 7 weeks. Silver Lake incorporates all of the traditions, activities, and spirit of Chipinaw… but does it twice each summer! Simply put, we want to provide campers with the opportunity to go to camp for a shorter amount of time and still get the "full camp" experience.

With state of the art facilities and over 50 activities to choose from, Silver Lake offers a warm family feel. Sports, Arts, Adventure, Digital Media, and Water Sports are just some of the many programs campers can choose from. Fly on our flying trapeze, flip into the foam pit in our newly built gymnastics center, horseback ride through one of our many trails, or waterski on our 96 acre lake, Silver Lake has something for everyone!

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Summer Program participants can be day students or live on campus and enjoy a full schedule that provides recreational activities on weekends and afternoons. Since 1990, the Summer Program has successfully combined not only academic enrichment and remediation, but also new experiences, opportunities and fun.

Admissions: The Gow School has a rolling admissions policy for its Summer Program. Personal interviews and tours of the campus are given throughout the year. Academics: The Gow School Summer Academic Program is a challenging and stimulating learning environment which provides students the opportunity to improve their academic skills. With an average class size of five students and individual attention from teachers, students achieve success in areas they never thought possible. Teachers use multi-sensory teaching strategies to reach students with different learning styles.

Classes such as Reconstructive Language and The Writing Process enable students to develop and enhance their language and writing skills, while courses such as Studio Art, Videography, and Metal Technology provide a chance to express creativity. Students may sign-up for four different classes during the morning academic session. Individual afternoon tutorial sessions are available for an added fee.

Florida Film Academy at Gow: During the Summer of 2015, The Gow School is pleased to offer a special afternoon Videography course presented by The Florida Film Academy. Classes will run from Monday, July 15th through Friday, July 19th from 2-5 pm.

Afternoon Activities: Each afternoon, Summer Program students participate in three Activity Instructional Clinics (AICs). AICs help students learn new skills and enjoy a full summer experience. During activity sessions, students are encouraged to participate to their level of comfort. Character building and teamwork abilities are emphasized. The AICs include traditional athletic activities such as basketball and capture the flag, along with non-traditional sports such as crab soccer and tennis softball. Other activities may include arts & crafts, hiking and biking. Specialized sessions such as archery and the low ropes courses are coached by trained supervisors.

Weekend Trips: Weekend trips are one of the many highlights of The Gow School Summer Program. Three overnight excursions are taken during the summer. These trips are not only fun and exciting, but also culturally and educationally rewarding. Experiences take advantage of local attractions, and range from camping trips to resort locations to museums and amusement parks.

July 1, 2018-August 4, 2018 Tuition for the 2018 Gow School Summer Program is $7,800 for residential students. This includes the cost of instruction, lodging in dormitories, meals, transportation, day trips and weekend excursions. Tuition for day students who attend only academic sessions (8 AM - 1 PM) is $4,600. Tuition for day students who attend both academic sessions and afternoon activities (8 AM - 5 PM) is $5,400. Learn skills like:

Blacksmithing - Students will learn the techniques and tools that were needed at the forge, and put these skills to the test

Outdoor cooking - Students will learn safe fire-building techniques, as well as simple recipes to cook over a fire.

How to build a survival shelter - Students will be taught how to prepare a shelter with the proper materials, in the case of an emergency

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: New Country Day Camp is an oasis for children growing up in New York City. CAMP PROGRAM INFO: The Laurel Project program, designed for children, will encourage students to learn the Chinese culture and language in a creative and participatory environment. Instruction takes place both indoors and outdoors in the heart of Chinatown, surrounded by colorful shops, markets and wonderful restaurants. The objective is to engage students in an intimate and fun setting, to teach Mandarin Chinese as a vehicle for cultural self-expression, rather than present it as just another subject to study. During the summer, activities focus on simple Mandarin conversation, writing, songs and games.

Students will interact with fruit vendors, shopkeepers & waiters when we shop for fruits & vegetables in the markets, try out snacks, desserts & beverages in a teahouse, and order delicious food & dim sum in the restaurant. CAMP PROGRAM INFO: One of the greatest programs at Camp Cedarbrook is our wilderness adventure trips, where campers can hike or canoe the great spacious outdoors the Adirondacks have to offer. Our trip programs challenge girls to push the limits of their physical abilities and have a great time doing it. Girls in high school can also take part in our Leadership Education and Development (LEAD)program or our Camper in Leadership Training (CILT) program. CAMP FACILITIES: Summit has approx. 30 traditional wooden cabins with electric and private facilities in each cabin. Our main buildings include our newly refinished dining hall, air-conditioned recreational hall, our medical facility, and a newly built outdoor pavilion. Summit utilizes three A frame buildings for our arts programs, a wilderness treehouse with camp fire area for cookouts, newly resurfaced basketball/tennis courts, high/low ropes course with climbing wall, heated pool, private lake, nature fields with a farm area, martial arts dojo, go-kart track with 3 karts. Summit has a small amphitheatre adjacent to our lake, with a miraculous view of our beautiful setting where we enjoy swimming, canoeing, and riding our banana boats. Our camp resides on a gently rising hillside, thus providing us with the physical basis for our motto, "The Magic on the Hill."

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Summit Camp is a co-ed sleepaway camp for ages 8-19 years with issues of attention: AD/HD, HFA/Asperger’s Disorder, and/or learning differences. Using the frame of a traditional sleepaway camp, we create platforms of success where our campers can experience outcomes such as improved self-esteem, lasting friendships, and increased independence. This is accomplished through a well-orchestrated and expertly staffed backdrop to a largely traditional camp experience- guided challenges, waterfront, adventure course, and more. It is our goal and desire to take our campers from observing peer interactions to engaging in them, to learn and celebrate their own strengths and successes, and to feel a sense of belonging and shared community with those around them while they are with us.

Our Teen Travel program extends the Summit community to provide a safe yet exciting adventure to one of our many attractive national and international destination tours offering 14 day and 19 day excursions. Summit Weekenders provide a youth-group style social retreat for adolescents to have an oasis of independence, enjoyment, and success during the school year months. Regardless of the specific program, Summit provides an expertly staffed, highly structured, and truly fun experience for our youth, and has been doing so since 1969. Summit is accredited by the American Camp Association and takes pride in our long term commitment to and successes in working with special needs youth.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: Our Transitions to Adult Living Skills program for youth aged 15-19 provides learning and vocational opportunities for our teens. We also have vocational programs for upper camp including, big brother/big sister, waiter/waitressing, working in a specialty area or as UL assistant, photography, and more. Our SUPER TEEN program focuses on building the executive function and daily living skills OUR kids needs to succeed as independently as possible.

YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMS: Summit provides weekender programs in metropolitan areas throughout the country which run from Friday evening until Sunday mid-day that provide an oasis of social involvement for our youth. NY/NJ and DC/VA weekenders meet on a monthly basis.

There’s chemistry in the kitchen and physics in the sand table. Campers will spend the week using the Scientific Method to answer questions and create a lot of wacky, wild and weird experiments.

Join us on a safari through the Africa’s rainforests and plains as campers learn about all of the flora and fauna that thrive in these fascinating habitats.

Week of August 11: CitiGallery
This week campers will learn about iconic artists and some of their most important work. Students will then create projects inspired by these greats and unleash their inner artists.

This final week of camp, children will take their favorite fairytales and bring them to life through dramatic play, art projects and storytelling.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Pok-O-MacCready Camps is one of the oldest summer camps in the world. In fact, our boys’ camp is the oldest in the United States having been privately owned and operated by the same family since its establishment in 1905. In 1967 our current director, Jack Swan, saw the need for a summer camp for girls and opened Camp MacCready. We are now one big family, combining our names to “Pok-O-MacCready” and operating as a traditional residential Adirondack summer camp for boys and girls ages six to sixteen.

Summer camp isn’t just for kids anymore! Want to experience camp for yourself and wrap it up into an inexpensive family vacation? Maybe you and your children are just curious to see what Pok-O-MacCready is all about, but you’re not quite ready to take the plunge with an entire summer. Our annual Family Camp week runs at the end of August and is all-inclusive of accommodation, meals, activities and programming, and transportation for trips outside of camp. It’s true! Many of our campers choose to stay for all seven weeks of the summer. Staying for the whole season really allows campers to hone their skills in their class areas, go on more wilderness trips, and means they won’t miss out on any of the big summer camp events! In addition, 7-weekers get to enjoy special events in between the 4-week and 3-week session break such as Beach Day and a day trip to the Great Escape amusement park. Some campers choose to register for the first 4 weeks, and then decide later to upgrade to the full 7-week session, and that’s just fine by us. If you’re unsure whether your camper would like to be a 4-weeker or a 7-weeker, don’t worry…it only takes a mouse-click for us to change a 4-weeker to a 7-weeker. Feel free to discuss that option with your child if you think they could benefit from a longer session!

4-WEEK SESSION JULY 1, 2018 – JULY 29, 2019 Standard Rate: $6,400
The first half of the summer consists of our 4-week overnight program. The 4-week session allows campers to learn new skills and take part in a variety of classes. The session includes many themed events which lead up to our “Color Wars”, in which campers don their colors of Red, Yellow, Blue, Black, or Green and see which team will come out on top: these games have been a camper favorite for decades!

“ROOKIE CAMP” (2 Weeks, for ages 6-10 only)
JULY 1, 2018 – JULY 14, 2018 Standard Rate: $3,200

For the first two weeks of the 4-Week session, we run a two week “Rookie Camp” for first-time campers between the ages of 6 to 9 years old. We feel this short session is a good bite-sized introduction to summer camp, and also allows campers the flexibility to stay on for the remainder of the 4-week session if they get bitten by the “summer camp bug” and want to stay longer!

3-WEEK SESSION (Overnight) JULY 31, 2018 – AUGUST 18, 2018 Standard Rate: $4,600

The 3-Week session offers two options to campers: a traditional overnight summer camp program, or a day-camp option. The 3-Week session is full of fun classes Mondays – Fridays, with special events planned on the weekends. It’s also the session in which our famous GREEK GAMES take place, as well as some of our campers’ all-time favorite camp events like the “Pok-O-Palooza” music festival, the Jack’s Cup sailing race, Casino Night, and the Pok-O County Fair.

3-WEEK SESSION (Day Camp)* JULY 21, 2018 – AUGUST 18, 2018 Standard Rate: $2,100 for a first-time camper.

Our day campers attend camp from approximately 9am to about 5pm Mondays through Fridays. Just like overnight campers, they get to create their own class schedule from a list of over 30 program offerings. They are, of course, assigned to a cabin and counselor and have their own bunks so they have a comfortable spot to relax during Rest Hour. Day campers also have the option of staying the night for an evening activity or program if they wish, and we can easily make those arrangements, although a small fee may apply. They also have the added bonus of being able to stay overnight the last week of camp for no additional fee!

CAMP FACILITIES: Camp Yomawha features beautiful woodlands, a mountain stream, a lake for boating, private swimming pool, climbing wall, state-of-the-art playground and various athletic fields. In this country-like setting, campers ages 5 to 15 enjoy use of the swimming pool and private lockers dedicated to the Y, with instruction in the morning and free swim in the afternoon.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: We offer campers a wide variety of challenging, enjoyable and stimulating activities in a relaxed, non-competitive atmosphere. Activities include sports, arts & crafts, nature study, boating, climbing wall, hiking, music, drama, and more! Throughout the summer, camp is filled with entertainers and special days to add to the fun. Our expert activity specialists, fully trained counselors and professional supervisory staff are all there to ensure your child has a safe, nurturing and fun summer.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: The CIT Program at Camp Yomawha is a summer-long leadership training workshop where young adults will learn the importance of being strong leaders and positive role models. This program includes skill building trips outside of camp, hands-on work with younger campers and community service components. CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: (open to campers 15-16 years of age) Are you looking for a way to have a positive impact in your community? Are you thinking of a future career working with children? The Counselor in Training (CIT) program could be just the thing for you! Many of our counselors started out as CITs themselves.

This two-week program allows CITs to gain practical experience working with campers by assisting counselors during classes, afternoon recreational activities, evening programs, and in cabins. Not only will CITs get hands-on leadership experience, they will also attend workshops from Directors and other leaders at camp on a variety of topics such as behavior and risk management, interviewing tips and managing stress – to name a few.

CITs successfully completing the program will be considered for hire in 2016. CIT campers must attend two consecutive weeks. Housing and supervision is not available over the weekend, requiring CITs to return home.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Camp Lango—our signature summer program—combines all the fun of traditional summertime activities with all the rigor of a Spanish or Mandarin immersion language program. Lead by our talented teaching staff, students learn through a variety of creative exercises (e.g. dance, music, and crafts) and cultural excursions about the Spanish- or Mandarin-speaking world.

The target language is taught through fun and engaging weekly themes. This summer’s weekly themes include Super Heroes, Princes and Princesses, Summer Adventures, A Visit to China and A Visit to Spain. CAMP FACILITIES: French Woods Sports and Arts Center features outstanding modern facilities that include a spacious multilevel dining room, heated pool, gymnasium, gymnastics center, fitness center, technology/communications center, recording studio, large theater, dance studio, rock music center, immaculate sports fields, 4 tennis courts, indoor and outdoor volleyball court, indoor and outdoor basketball court, a baseball diamond, archery range, a private lake, equestrian stables, 14 studios for classes and activities, an open air circus area, an advanced medical center, and two large Dormitory buildings (bunks) housing multiple suites that sleep 8 to 10 campers and counselors with en suite bathrooms, plus 3 additional bunk buildings. All buildings are climate controlled with air-conditioning and heat.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: French Woods Sports and Arts Center provides the summer of a lifetime in a safe, supportive, supervised and age appropriate environment. Campers completely determine which activities they will participate in. Children are offered a wide range of activities that include sports, arts, technology, extreme sports, circus, rock music, electronic music, dance, water sports, DJ and radio, theater, communications, magic, cooking, role playing games, and equestrian. All that and more rolled up together into one incredible summer experience!

There are six activities per day, each one hour in length; three of these periods are called majors and three are called minors.

Majors are chosen at the beginning of each session and are maintained for two weeks. Minors are chosen daily at breakfast. This lets you concentrate on the things that interest you, while giving you the chance to try something new.

Empowering our campers to feel good about themselves and their accomplishments can increase motivation to try harder, try new activities, continues to build self-confidence, and achieve self-efficacy. The more you believe in your abilities, the more inclined you are to be motivated to attempt new things and become successful in those endeavors.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: CIT Program: Campers who are entering the 11th and 12th grades have the option of participating in our two level Counselor In Training program. CAMP FACILITIES: We have a lake, three swimming pools, large ball fields, a garden and a farm, a playground and separate courts for tennis, basketball, street hockey and volley ball. Our Outdoor Adventure program has special locations for climbing walls, obstacle/rope courses and zip lines. We have a series of individual workshops and studios for dance, music, theater, ceramics, wood, graphics, sculpture, photography, weaving and art.

These provide the opportunity for every child to discover the special satisfactions of creativity. There is a fully equipped indoor gymnastics center and a fencing shed. Special facilities feature excellent instruction in tennis and archery, fencing, track and field. There are also dormitories with bathrooms, where children store their belongings and change clothes. And, of course, there is a kitchen, dining rooms, and a well-equipped infirmary. If it rains, all our workshops, studios and covered facilities allow for continuing programs.

CAMP FACILITIES: Merrick Woods offers huge, sprawling ball fields and quaint, plenty of playgrounds, and rustic craft shops carved out of the woods. We also have three heated pools basking in the sunshine, and the shaded paths and coves where cool breezes provide comfort from the summer heat.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: Campers age 13-15 participate in our CIT program where they can choose a specialty area in camp and mentor with staff from that area (Ex: Ride staff, lifeguards, counselors etc.) They also go on trips-some of our past trips have included: overnight to Hershey Park, overnight to Six Flags Great Adventure, day trip to the Waterfront Center (sailing and kayaking), day trip to Mountain Creek water park, overnight to Club Getaway, day trip to Brownstone Adventure Park, overnight Camping/White Water Rafting, etc.)

YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMS: Year round ride school with programs for ages 3 and older. Lessons offered include private lessons, group lessons and semi privates. Group lessons are offered full year or seasonally.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: The majority of our camp staff is chosen from graduates of our two year CIT program for students entering 9th and 10th grades. 9th Graders are placed in groups and learn how to manage the campers, the schedule, and the various trials and tribulations of any job. They also take a weekly class with our CIT coordinator. Those CIT's entering 10th grade enjoy added responsibility and leadership opportunities and have a weekly class with the Director of Summer Programs, during which they learn job skills such as resume building, interview skills, and public speaking.

All CIT's receive certifications in CPR, First Aid, and Babysitting through the Red Cross.
